Larch Cladding

Larch cladding is a highly attractive wood that’s renowned for its beautiful grains and colours. It possesses large amounts of resin making it naturally resistant to decay and therefore does not need pressure treating or considerable maintenance. Within our collection of Larch cladding, we have two different types available which include our Siberian Larch and Homegrown British Larch. In terms of the Siberian Larch cladding, it’s a durable timber with a high density, perfect for exterior applications such as sheds, garages, and homes. The colours range from brown tones to pale yellow and eventually turning to a silvery grey after long periods of exposure to the sun. The Homegrown Larch is a more cost-effective method to cladding your buildings and walls but does not compromise in quality. Its susceptible to more knots and small defects such as tight grains but that only adds to the charm and appearance making it one of our most popular timbers and cladding here at Ruby. A sustainable timber that is often fast grown in Devon and therefore considerably reduces our Carbon Footprint.

The various amounts of lengths and sizes mean that we’re sure we can provide you with something that will meet your requirements. Profiles such as shiplap and shadow gap as well as different PSE sizes are just some of the different types we can offer, and all look fantastic when fitted. Remember, Larch cladding can also be used for indoor purposes since it does not need pressure treating and therefore is a natural wood. It could be used as a feature wall or to create a panelled wall- whatever ideas you have in mind!

In terms of installing your Larch cladding, we would recommend starting from the bottom and working your way up, ensuring that the bottom boards are completely level as this will help to fit higher boards. To help with this, we have available tongue-titeâ Plus Screws which are the easy way to fix your cladding boards and the most effective way in terms of installing them accurately and with quality. Adding to this, over time your boards will weather naturally turning from the pale yellows and browns that they once were to a grey silvery tone. To help minimise and stop this from occurring, we highly recommend using Osmo UV Protection Larch oil. The oil has pigments within it which optimally match the colour of the wood ensuring that the colour is kept throughout its lifetime. As well as this, it is a water and dirt resistant, regulating moisture levels within the timber to stop swelling or shrinkage and does not flake, peel or blister. Applying this protective oil every 12 weeks is recommended to keep your boards in superb condition throughout its long life.
