Description

Expertly crafted by our team of special joiners here in the heart of the Devon countryside, our Iroko Cottage entrance gates gates coming as a pair with one leaf being 3/4 size of the overall width and the other leaf measuring 1/4 of the total width. Made using one of the most naturally durable and long lasting species of timber there is.

The gate will provide your entrances with a stunning and elegant feel due to the yellow, brown and beautiful grains found in iroko. Our cottage gates have a traditional feel to them whilst the iroko adds a modern and 'current' impression and making them stand out from the rest.

Made using mortise & tenon techniques, this gate is extremely vigorous, sturdy and able to withstand the harshest of weathers. The iroko tongue and groove cladding in which the frame houses, interlocks together and creates a seamless finish with shadow lines running vertically. Untreated due to the natural hardwearing properties of iroko.

FAQs
FAQs
Product
What are 3/4 split gates?

The 3/4 split gate consists of two leafs, where one leaf is typically wider than the other. The wider panel usually occupies 3/4 of the total width of the gate, while the narrower panel occupies 1/4. This design allows for a more versatile and practical opening mechanism, often used in residential or commercial properties for quick and easy pedestrian access.

Do your gates arrive fully assembled?

Yes! Our gates arrive fully assembled at your doorstep, so no construction is needed!

Are Iroko Cottage Mortise & Tenon T&G 3/4 Split Entrance Gate Pair pressure-treated?

Our 3/4 Split Iroko Cottage Entrance gates are untreated due to the natural durability of Iroko Hardwood.

Are your gates in stock?

All of our gates are made-to-order, so we don't typically have them in stock—only the materials.

What is the finish on your Iroko 3/4 Split Cottage Mortise & Tenon T&G Entrance Gates?

This gate has a smooth, planed finish.

What timber are your Iroko Cottage Mortise & Tenon 3/4 Split T&G Entrance Gates made from?

Aftercare and Maintenance
Can I paint my gates?

You can! You can only use water-based paint on our gates; however, you will need to ensure the gate is as dry as possible before painting. We do recommend applying UV protection to the gate prior to painting also.

What maintenance is required?

We highly recommend treating your gate at least every 6 months with Osmo Oil, to protect your gates against the elements and against decay, as well as discoloration. We also recommend checking your gates every so often and removing any built-up dirt and grime.

How do I prevent warping/bowing?

We have made a dedicated page with tips and tricks on how to prevent warping and bowing. Please see here: https://www.ruby-group.co.uk/pages/why-do-gates-warp

How long do your 3/4 Split Iroko Cottage Mortise and Tenon T&G Entrance Gate Pair last?
