Treatment

Untreated, Radiata Pine Thermowood offers excellent durability and natural resistance to decay and insects, making it an ideal choice for external use. Its enhanced thermal modification process improves its stability and resistance to weathering, ensuring reliable performance in exposed outdoor environments.

To maintain its natural appearance and extend its lifespan, we recommend applying a suitable wood oil or stain, such as OSMO. This helps to preserve its rich, warm tones while providing additional protection against cracking and the effects of UV exposure. Staining enhances the timber's durability, ensuring it retains its structural integrity and aesthetic appeal over time, making Redwood Thermowood a reliable and long-lasting option for outdoor projects.

Radiata Pine Thermowood Shadow Gap Cladding

Radiata Pine Thermowood Shadow Gap cladding combines durability and sustainability with a sleek, modern aesthetic. Manufactured through a heat-treatment process, Thermowood is naturally resistant to rot, decay, and insects, making it an eco-friendly alternative to chemically treated timber.

The Shadow Gap profile creates clean, defined lines and subtle depth, enhancing contemporary designs and adding a sophisticated touch to exterior facades and interior feature walls. Thermowood’s enhanced stability minimizes warping, swelling, and shrinking, ensuring a consistent and long-lasting finish over time.

With its warm, rich tone, Radiata Pine Thermowood can be left untreated to develop a natural grey patina or stained to suit your design preferences. This versatile and sustainable cladding option is an ideal choice for builders and architects prioritising durability, environmental responsibility, and aesthetic appeal.

Board Run

It's important to tell us which way your cladding will be running as depending on the desired orientation of your cladding, the timber needs to be cut differently.

Vertical run cladding naturally channels water downwards, however if cut incorrectly horizontal profile boards may trap water inside the shadow gaps, making it more susceptible to weather-related issues like rot. To combat this, horizontal boards are cut with a slight angle in the gaps to help the water run off, while vertical boards retain a nice crisp edge.
