Iroko Maintenance
How to maintain your Iroko Gate
Iroko stands out as a naturally rot-resistant hardwood, so typically requires little to no maintenance - making it a popular choice amongst customers. However, to preserve the timber's integrity and shield it from potential issues like splits, warping, or discolouration, we strongly advise applying OSMO UV Oil to ensure its long-term maintenance and protection.
OSMO Oil
Osmo Oil is a professional grade, solvent-based, UV-resistant wood oil for exterior wood. Suitable for all wood surfaces that require protection from the suns UV rays, this oil offers superb durability against weathering. It contains biocides to protect wood against mould, algae and fungal attack and helps to prevent swelling, shrinkage, splitting and warping of the timber.
Osmo Oil will not crack, flake, peel or blister and is very easy to apply and maintain!
How and when to apply
We recommend applying Osmo Oil at least every 6 or 12 months, to ensure the gates maintain their natural, golden hue and prevent against warping and twisting. If you're subscribed to our newsletter, you will receive yearly reminders of this!
The gate has to be dry for application, or as close to dry as you can get them, to prevent against water intake. Apply 2 generous coats of the Osmo Oil, and your gate should be well equipped to deal with the harsh British weather!
